How does a community address so many hurts and actually assist needy people?
Well, the money comes from other people--people who recognize the needs.
But how does that money get distributed to the right places?
That's the struggle. The best answer to date is the United Way. Gifts to the United Way flow to assist numerous agencies. And the flow is directed by volunteers--fellow citizens who've given their own time and energy to study local needs and agencies. These volunteers have listened to and visited the agencies which address the needs of our community. They've wrestled with the difficult questions of how to allocate limited funds.
I'm thankful for these people who make our community a better place to live. You might say they're good4Abilene.
